Rainbow Research Optics is Hiring a Quality Control Specialist (Optical Manufacturing) Near Centennial, CO

Rainbow Research Optics, LLC. (RROL) is a Custom Optics Manufacturer located in Centennial, CO. We have been providing high quality optics to the defense, medical, commercial and laser markets for over 20 years.

RROL is currently seeking applicants for a Quality Control Specialist. The successful candidate must be a U.S Citizen or a U.S Permanent Resident to be gainfully employed at this company. Additionally, the incumbent must be able to understand and follow applicable federal regulations and laws pertaining to the export of designated products.

This position is a full-time position. The QA Specialist ensures precision optical devices and related products are manufactured in accordance with the company’s quality standards and satisfy customer specifications, design criteria, and concerns. The QA Specialist ensures company products and manufacturing processes comply with criteria established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to facilitate global sales of products.

Supervisory Controls: The incumbent works in the Quality Assurance Department under the direct supervision of the Quality Assurance Manager. The incumbent is expected to work independently with minimal supervision. Overtime may be required to complete job tasks timely and completely. 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures current ISO standards are met
  • Complies with ITAR requirements
  • Assists in customer audits and document preparation for audits to include first article inspections and source inspections
  • Performs customer conflict resolutions to include contacting customer for exceptions, tracking customer issues, and resolution
  • Performs corrective actions and tracking per procedure
  • Implements various process improvements per management guidance
  • Assists with replying to Packing Group emails. This includes but is not limited to Production Control and Sales requests and internal resolution of quality and packing related issues.
  • Performs decision making activities for rework, reject, and use as-is
  • Communicates with company affiliates and clients to resolve quality issues and perform quality improvement initiatives
  • Maintains the calibration program
  • Authorizes product shipments from QA Packing
  • Process documents for Laser Damage Testing requests and other outsourced tests
  • Ensure quality controls are established and implemented
  • Reviews designs, changes, and plans of specifications and processes
  • Oversees process verifications
  • Performs verifications and tests according to processes
  • Ensures projects and processes meet all requirements and reliability standards
  • Coordinates test engineering activities
  • Collaborates with team to identify and implement process improvements
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or other technical discipline equivalent to Quality Control.
  • (2 ) years' experience in Quality Assurance. Experience in QA or manufacturing is preferred
  • In-depth understanding of quality methodologies and up-to-date on industry standards and best practices

Physical Requirements:

The incumbent works in a manufacturing plant producing precision, high-grade, optical devices. As such, the incumbent may be exposed to chemicals used to fabricate products, as well as dust from fabrication and grinding processes. Some physical strains, such as long periods of standing and walking, as well as periodic stooping, climbing, crouching, and reaching may be required. The incumbent must be able to lift moderately heavy items (0-50 pounds), such as test equipment kits, product cases, and materials and supplies. The incumbent is required to comply with all company safety policies and procedures.

Some physical strains, such as working in front of a computer for extended periods and lifting of moderately heavy items such as optical shipments. Other physical demands include climbing, crouching, and reaching.

  • Incumbent must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
  • Ability to understand and follow ISO and ITAR requirements
  • Must Pass a Background Check
